Tommy Garrett was an American producer who produced many of the early sixties hits and Bobby Vee and Gary Lewis were some of his "protégees". Garrett also launched Phil Spector in the music business and came up with the idea of the "50 Guitars Group". But the actual lead guitarist was Tommy Tedesco, so ...... the name "The 50 Guitars of Tommy Garrett" appearing on the albums was somewhat misleading. Obviously, the name became a kind of "brand name" for 'well arranged guitar playing' but even the arranging was not done by Garrett (usually handled by Ernie Wilkins). Well, all that for those of you who are interested in a bit of background info .... the music speaks it's own language of course. When listening to a "50 Guitars" recording I always get the impression that I'm listening to "more than only guitars" - somehow the guitars sometimes sound 'like a full orchestra'. (But maybe that's only my "musical imagination" ;-) From the 1967 album "50 Guitars In Love" here's "Tommy Garrett" with "Sure Gonna Miss Her". PS : for "artistic purposes" we've changed the title of the video into "Sure Gonna Miss You". (The original title however duly is "Sure gonna miss her"). Enough "talk", let's just listen ;-) !
