On March 1, 2012, Google's new "privacy" policy goes into effect across all 60+ websites owned or connected with Google, Inc. What information will they gather about you? What language you speak Which ads you'll find most useful "The people who matter most to you online." Your real name Your email address Your telephone number. Your credit card Your photo What services you use How you use them Device information, such as: What hardware you're using What operating system you have Unique Device Indentifiers Mobile Network information Search queries Calling-party number Forwarding numbers Time and date of calls Duration of calls SMS Routing and types of calls IP address That's not all When you use a location-enabled Google service, they will automatically collect and process information about your actual location such as GPS signals sent by your mobile device. The will also use various technologies to determine where you are, such as sensor data from your device that may provide information about nearby Wi-Fi access points and cell towers. How will they use this information? To make their services work more smoothly for you. To improve their services To provide new services Sounds great, doesn't it? But they'll also use it "To protect Google and our users," whatever that means To offer tailored advertising They will give it to law enforcement in America and other countries where Google has a presence, in accordance with the laws of those countries, even if it's not your country. That means that all this lovely data about you, what you've searched for, what kind of device you have, what makes your system crash, will all be available in places like China, Iran and other liberty-hating police states. What can you do about it? FIGHT BACK!! Let Google know that your personal information is your business and nobody else's. Download this video. Repost it all over the internet. If it gets taken down, change the background music and repost it again. If that doesn't work, then on March 1, 2012 we launch the Great Google Boycott. We will not visit Google.com or its subdomains like Google Translate, Google Earth or Gmail. We will not visit YouTube or any other Google-related website. We will uninstall Google Chrome, Picasa, Visigami and other Google products. We will deactivate our Android phones. We will refuse to use any Google device, website or service. Period. Spread the word. WE are the Internet. Ne copula nobiscum. (Do not fuck with us.)
