Seaworld Orlando is moving forward after the death of an Orca trainer in 2010. Three new expansions are in the works, and an ongoing OSHA case could change how Seaworld operates with its famed Killer Whales. Intersection host Mark Simpson talks with author David Kirby about his book, "Death at Seaworld: Shamu and the Dark Side of Killer Whales in Captivity." Later in the show former Seaworld trainer John Jett, PhD and Rollins College business ethics expert Mark Johnston discuss the ocean park's training culture and business strategies as Seaworld redefines itself as more than just Shamu.

Feb 28, 2012 - - Yes, and I certainly hope that people don't continue to feel that this is a needed and necessary form of entertainment. It's certainly not an education when they walk away not knowing what is going on ...or being willfully ignorant.
IAmADalek Says:
Mar 4, 2012 - It's full of exaggerated myths, badly written view-points and complete and utter lies. Unfortunately lies sells better than the truth.

Mar 4, 2012 - - LOL. The book hasn't even come out yet. I suggest you read it first before forming such an uneducated opinion. Seriously, read it first. Then I'll listen to your arguments.
BeardedFrog7 Says:
Mar 12, 2012 - oh wow but it's okay for SW to tell everyone it's Dawn's own fault she died and not the company's fault for allowed all the trainers to get that close to Tilikum? Such stunning logic.
metridium Says:
Mar 27, 2012 - "It is important to Dawn's husband, Scott, that everyone know that Dawn was working within the customs, practices and procedures at SeaWorld at the time that she was attacked," Scott's Lawyer Dan O'Connor said. But O'Connor said Brancheau was following SeaWorld's safety protocols, which prohibited trainers from swimming with Tilikum but permitted them to work with the massive male orca from the shallow ledges along the sides of the park's orca tanks.

Feb 19, 2012 - Can't wait to purchase Death At SeaWorld! A very telling book about SeaWorld's dirty practices, and the exploitation of orcas and trainers.
