Morning Meltdown February 7, 2012 FBI on top of that whole radical right wing extremist thing Rest safely, citizens! The FBI has got your back and will protect you against the radical, extremist, violent tendencies of ... citizens? Anti-government extremists opposed to taxes and regulations pose a growing threat to local law enforcement officers in the United States, the FBI warned on Monday. These extremists, sometimes known as "sovereign citizens," believe they can live outside any type of government authority, FBI agents said at a news conference. The extremists may refuse to pay taxes, defy government environmental regulations and believe the United States went bankrupt by going off the gold standard. Routine encounters with police can turn violent "at the drop of a hat," said Stuart McArthur, deputy assistant director in the FBI's counterterrorism division. http://hotair.com/archives/2012/02/07/fbi-on-top-of-that-whole-radical-right-wing-extremist-thing/ ---- Obama could alter stance of federal appeals courts A second term for President Barack Obama would allow him to expand his replacement of Republican-appointed majorities with Democratic ones on the nation's appeals courts, the final stop for almost all challenged federal court rulings. The next president, whether it's Obama or a Republican, also has a reasonable shot at transforming the majority on the Supreme Court, because three justices representing the closely divided court's liberal and conservative wings, as well as its center, will turn 80 before the next presidential term ends. The three justices are Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the leader of the court's liberal wing, conservative Antonin Scalia, and Anthony Kennedy, who leans conservative but on some issues provides a decisive vote for the liberals. http://news.yahoo.com/obama-could-alter-stance-federal-appeals-courts-145337583.html ---- American kids denied food stamps in Alabama under immigration law Some U.S.-born children with parents who are illegal immigrants have been denied food stamps under Alabama's new immigration law, Southern Poverty Law Center President Richard Cohen told Yahoo News on Monday. The law makes it a felony for a government employee to engage in "business transactions" with illegal immigrants, which some government employees have interpreted very broadly. Illegal immigrants have been told they can't pay their utility bills or even their taxes because it would count as a "transaction" with the government, according to Cohen. Last month, Kansas kicked more than 1,000 mixed-status families off its food stamp program when it joined three other states in adopting a stricter food stamp eligibility policy. The Justice Department has sued Arizona, Alabama, South Carolina and Utah over laws that crack down on illegal immigrants, saying they interfere with the federal government's control over immigration. The Supreme Court will hear arguments over Arizona's SB1070 beginning on April 25. http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/american-kids-denied-food-stamps-alabama-under-immigration-143929070.html ---- Occupy Pittsburgh 'Spokesman' Arrested for Failing to Register as a Sex Offender The Occupy movement keeps chugging along, despite the horrific stories that continue to emerge from its abyss. This week, new revelations about one of the so-called leaders of the Occupy Pittsburgh, James Francis Hoff, will send a chill down the spine of a great many. Hoff, who calls himself "Blue Thunder," is a registered sex offender who allegedly failed to register his status, as required under law. http://news.yahoo.com/occupy-pittsburgh-spokesman-arrested-failing-register-sex-offender-153607754.html ---- Obama: I'm getting 'better as time goes on' During an interview that aired Monday on NBC's "Today" show, President Obama said that he gets "better as time goes on" at his job and that he believes the grassroots movement that propelled him to victory in 2008 will help him win a second term. http://thehill.com/video/administration/208775-obama-im-getting-better-as-time-goes-on-at-being-president ---- Girls, 13, given contraceptive implants at school Girls as young as 13 have been fitted with contraceptive implants at school without their parents knowing. The procedure was carried out in Southampton, Hants, as part of a government initiative to drive down teenage pregnancies. As many as nine secondary schools in the city are thought to have been involved. But it has caused a backlash from parents who weren't aware that their daughters had been fitted with the 4cm device, which sits under the skin. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/9065998/Girls-13-given-contraceptive-implants-at-school.html

The parents are suppose to consent for their minor children. What happens when these girls have allergic reaction? God forbid one of these girls has a reaction and dies....All parents should be suing the school and companies who did this!

Feb 8, 2012 - Sorry for your loss my dear friend. May God bless you and and your family.

gfreakj Says:

Feb 8, 2012 - I'm so sorry Carrie. If you ever want to talk let me know. The fact that their is a question of whether or not a school should be able to implant anything in any child without their parents permission says a lot about the state of our country. Whoever put that into my child would have my foot implanted up their ...:)

redtony58 Says:

Feb 8, 2012 - the fbi is basing this assessment on one well publicized case so far as I know. congressional hearings, The person approving these implants should be arrested for civil rights violations. If a young person wishes to make medical decisions before 18 they should get or sue for emancipation, period. As time goes by all the dross will burn away and you'll be left with golden memories, you'll think of your mom and smile.

Feb 8, 2012 - Teen pregnancy drops off dramatically after age 25 :)

stephenabm Says:

Feb 8, 2012 - Obama gets worse by the day!

MrWhitey101 Says:

Feb 8, 2012 - I hope you feel better soon, Carrie. Regarding the "spokesman" for the occupy Pittsburgh movement, the guy is a homeless native American from Delaware who is calling himself a leader of the occupy Pitt movement, although he has no real affiliation other than a self proclaimed one. If I walk downtown to anti war protest, and declare myself the Grand Poobah of the anti Afghan war rally, does that make it true? I guess according to Fox News it would.

Carrie3570 Says:

Feb 8, 2012 - That actual article sent to me was from yahoo news.

TheBeeperman Says:

Feb 9, 2012 - Looks like the Obama administration thinks any one opposed to the left are violent terrorists. Meanwhile the Occupy movement is openly violent, attacking police and gov't entities every day, in very deadly ways. But of course, to the Obama admin, there is no danger there..lol

Carrie3570 Says:

Feb 9, 2012 - I agree, Occupy is violent and dangerous. I would not want to be around those people.

Carrie3570 Says:

Feb 9, 2012 - lol... you know that teenage pregnancy really drops after 19! hahaha... MrTim, I'm giving you a hard time.

robbie574 Says:

Feb 9, 2012 - I know, it was just something I saw in a email of actual headlines in the news that stuck with me :)

MrWhitey101 Says:

Feb 11, 2012 - Oh I know, all of the major media outlets are calling the guy the "leader." But if you read carefully, they all say "self-proclaimed." However, Fox news conveniently leaves out the Self proclaimed part. It's like this argument today about every employer being forced to provide contraception through their health plan. Republicans were outraged when they thought that Churches would be forced to. When Obama clarified that Churches AND charities would be exempt, they ignored it.

MrWhitey101 Says:

Feb 11, 2012 - Now Republicans are saying that contraception is cheap and people should provide their own. But it costs between 180-680 per year depending on the method. Would Republicans rather pay that, or pay for food stamps and welfare for the welfare moms having kids that they can't afford? It's a double edged sword. You can't have it both ways-complaining about the contraception cost AND complaining about the amount of people on food stamps. There is a correlation.

Carrie3570 Says:

Feb 12, 2012 - For the record, people should pay for their food and their contraception themselves. If people can't afford those things, maybe they should think about that before they have sex.

MrWhitey101 Says:

Feb 13, 2012 - When corporations can outsource American jobs to China, Mexico, and other countries so that they can have lax environmental regulations and lower wages all in the name of keeping executive salaries and stock dividends climbing, and 9% of the country is unemployed, how do you propose that those nearly 30 million people provide food for themselves? Food stamps aren't a permanent solution, they are a temporary one. Bush added 4.5 million people in 1 year (2007) to the foodstamp program.

MrWhitey101 Says:

Feb 13, 2012 - Theoretically we should all pay for everything:food, healthcare, contraception. But if the cost of providing a service like contraception to the very poor and needy people, most of whom are less educated, outweighs the cost of supporting their children, isn't that better for society as a whole? Why do you think that no Republican administration has challenged Roe V Wade in the 5 Republican presidential terms since it was passed? Because it keeps the number of welfare recipients down.
